Respite Services

Short-Term Support for Caregivers and Families

Caring for a loved one can be rewarding, but caregivers also need dependable opportunities to rest, manage responsibilities, or respond to changes in their schedules.

Respite provides temporary support for eligible participants while offering short-term relief to their regular caregivers. Services are individualized according to the participant’s needs and approved service plan.

When Respite May Be Helpful

Respite may support families during:

• Planned caregiver breaks
• After-school or weekend hours
• Family appointments and obligations
• Temporary changes in caregiver availability
• Other approved short-term support needs

During respite, participants may receive supervision, assistance with established routines, structured activities, community engagement, and individualized behavioral or daily-living support.

Respite scheduling depends on eligibility, authorization, participant needs, location, staffing, and current availability.

Respite is not a replacement for emergency, inpatient, crisis, or long-term residential care.
